My Personal Vestiaire!

Before moving into our three-storey Victorian townhouse L'Homme and I rented an apartment in Liverpool city centre meaning I had to cram my clothes into a single, tiny wardrobe! Needless to say clothes were constantly piled on the bedroom floor and shoes were kept stacked up in the under-stairs cupboard (shock, horror!).

So when we moved and suddenly had two spare bedrooms to play around with I immediately had visions of a sex and the city style dream walk-in!

The spare bedroom was a tad uninspiring before we got to work on it with an old carpet covering the beautiful floorboards and old-fashioned wallpaper swamping the room.

The first job was stripping the room of wallpaper and carpet and discovering the original hearth tiles!
Now the room was ready for it's transformation into beautiful dressing room...
I was inspired by Carrie's dark wood floor and as we already had the great floorboards, the stunning floor only cost us the amount of a can of woodstain, I love the way the dark floor gives the room a slightly masculine, stylish feel.
We painted the chimney breast in Pearly Queen by Laurence Lewelyn Bowen for B&Q which I just adore, it is a really subtle purple-grey colour and very elegant.
The new shop-stopper light fitting came from B&Q and adds a bit of wow-factor with it's five drop pendants.
A scraf rack proved to be a stylish, easily moveable disguise for the ugly boiler.
All of the furniture in the dressing room is from Ikea including two chests of drawers back-to-back creating a central island.

My Dressing table face mirror was a TK Maxx bargain that looks antique.

The transformation is just what I wanted for this room and I am thrilled at how good it turned out, it could possibly be my favourite room in the house and I love taking my time getting dressed in here every morning.

Memory Board

I've been watching our collection of photos and holiday tickets, art and bits & bobs gather over the last couple of years and I feel uneasy knowing they're hiding away in a suitcase in the attic. My intention is to make beautiful albums filled with our wonderful memories eventually but in the meantime I'd like to be reminded of fun times every single day so I've created a pinboard for our dining room as a visual pick-me-up. Here are a few of my favourite memories...

Lovely Weekend Bits and Bobs

I like nothing better than having a little lie-in on Saturday mornings followed by a big cup of freshly filtered coffee from our gorgeous red Italian Gaggia machine.
Coffee always tastes so much better from your favourite mug and this vintage style cup and saucer from Zara Home makes me feel all ladylike and pretty.

Some shops have sales on at the moment so I couldn't resist a little trip into town to check them out, I did make a couple of purchases which I'm sure will appear in a What I Wore Today post soon. We also had a stroll through the furniture department of John Lewis for a good old dose of decor porn.

Maharani Butler Tray (£125)

Bump Chair in Verese Lime (£1400)

L'Homme and I finished our rainy day of shopping with a trip to recently opened Carluccios Italian restaurant in Liverpool.
Enjoying a glass of my favourite Montepulciano D'Abruzzo wine.

Recent Snaps

My sister has just been on a continental vacation and brought
back this delicious traditional almond cake.
One of my favourite things is having fresh flowers in my humble abode, I couldn't resist
the sight or smell of these wonderful Peonies.
This souvenir aeroplane reminds me of a relaxing trip to Cuba a
couple of years ago, every time I glimpse at it I immediately think of sun.
Discovering French wraps at the supermarket...complete with tiny picture of Provence!
L'Homme & I bought a new lamp and Pierre Le Chat gained a playhouse,
he does look rather menacing from his cardboard fort!
Breakfast in the garden (weather permitting) It almost feels like I
could be in France!

Simple Sundays

Bonjour,

My Sundays are usually spent preparing for the week ahead...doing laundry, housework, lunches etc... so this week I got all of the usual chores out of the way so I could enjoy some retail therapy, tasty food and a sneaky Sunday cocktail!

During a little browse around Primark I spotted these gorgeous nail varnishes and snapped them up at £2.50 each.

Zest & Be Mine (Primark)

Beautiful blue nails
I loved the blue on it's own but fancied a little experimentation!
Zesty-Blue!
I layered the Zest yellow over the top of the blue and the result was this summery lime sheen that will look great with a nice tan.

L'Homme & I had a delicious light Sunday supper of homemade Leek & Potato Soup with homebaked Cheese & Chive soda bread, followed by a tasty fresh mint mojito!

Lots of sunshine and tasty food

I had a bit of midweek Primark spree and picked up a few pretty items including this gorgeous, French Riviera style dress.

new look grey shoes next gold glitter box bag

With its flamingo and palm tree print this is the perfect little dress for summer and I wore it to go for drinks at Bem Brazil Liverpool on Friday evening with grey suede platforms (New Look) gold glitter box bag (Next) tortoise-shell necklace & flower ring (gifts) and Katy Perry Oh My eyelashes.

What better way to start the weekend than with a delicious Maple Pecan Twist and some juicy strawberries on a beautiful Saturday morning...

Then It was off to the garden centre to buy fresh herb plants ready for when our back yard is transformed into a Mediterranean-with-hints-of-India-style kitchen garden (well that's my vision anyway!)

Then I spent the entire afternoon giving myself a manicure & pedicure in the sunshine in our back garden which at the moment is far from picturesque but is such a little sun trap!

Because the weather was so unusually pleasant I had an urge to dine al fresco so I set up a little table and chairs and covered it with this fabulous mustard polka dot fabric (which I got cheap from a fabric shop as it was the last of the roll!) and enjoyed some nice wine and spaghetti bolognese.

Saturday was a lovely relaxing day and Sunday has been quite the opposite, getting stuck into the garden transformation with pebbles, planting and laying paving. My body is aching!!

Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend
