A Sunday Trip To The Lake District

On Sunday L'Homme and I were after a bit of fresh air and decided to take a drive to the countryside and the beautiful Lake District. We had a lovely stroll around the historic market town of Kendal and sheltered from the rain under the canopy of a cosy traditional cafe drinking tea and people watching.

If You Go Down To The Woods Today

The UK weather has been awful of late... rain, rain, rain and not much else so rare sunny weekends have to be taken advantage of. On Saturday L'Homme & I had a nice relaxing walk through Delamere Forest, it was a treat to be able to enjoy some sun before the rain started again on the way home.

Pizza & A Midnight Tango

My sisters and I had a wonderful evening last week stopping at Pizza Express for laid-back dinner of pizza (of course!) before going to the theatre to see the stunning Midnight Tango show.

The stars of Midnight Tango are Flavia Cacace & Vincent Simone made famous by Strictly Come Dancing but world champions away from Strictly and they're back to doing what they do best, the Argentine Tango.
The show is filled with wonderful music from a live band, dulcet Italiano songs, stunning choreography and not to mention all the passion, romance, jealously, love and desire of a classic tango.

It's like Strictly without the comedy props, (sometimes useless) judges and the awful dancing of the first few shows! The mesmerising talent of the dancers had the hairs standing up on my arms and my desire for dance has been well and truly re-ignited! Go see Midnight Tango...it's amazing.

Window Shopping

With my relatives visiting for Sunday lunch L'Homme and I took a trip to the market town of Ormskirk to buy our fresh vegetables. While we were there we did some wonderful window shopping and refuelled in a local cafe with delicious Bacon & Brie sandwiches washed down with a lovely cuppa.
Vibrant flowers
Rhubarb (perfect for crumble) and corn on the cob
Enviromentally Friendly way of carrying home our vegetables in a canvas bag brought back from Rome
Carrotts & Parsnips, lovely combination for our roast dinner
Sweet, kitsch wedding cake in a beautifully decorated shop
Candy Jar in a lovely discount home store (a re-visit is essential!!)

In love with these chic vintage-style medicine jars (could they be added to my collection I wonder?)

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads!

It was Father's day on Sunday, the annual celebration of our lovely Dads and we took a trip to the seaside town of New Brighton with ours.

We strolled along the promenade, visited a fort and rested with a nice caramel latte.

Lovely Weekend Bits and Bobs

I like nothing better than having a little lie-in on Saturday mornings followed by a big cup of freshly filtered coffee from our gorgeous red Italian Gaggia machine.
Coffee always tastes so much better from your favourite mug and this vintage style cup and saucer from Zara Home makes me feel all ladylike and pretty.

Some shops have sales on at the moment so I couldn't resist a little trip into town to check them out, I did make a couple of purchases which I'm sure will appear in a What I Wore Today post soon. We also had a stroll through the furniture department of John Lewis for a good old dose of decor porn.
Dylan Armchair in Mellow Petrol (£499)

Maharani Butler Tray (£125)

Bump Chair in Verese Lime (£1400)

L'Homme and I finished our rainy day of shopping with a trip to recently opened Carluccios Italian restaurant in Liverpool.
Enjoying a glass of my favourite Montepulciano D'Abruzzo wine.

Recent Snaps

My sister has just been on a continental vacation and brought
back this delicious traditional almond cake.
One of my favourite things is having fresh flowers in my humble abode, I couldn't resist
the sight or smell of these wonderful Peonies.
This souvenir aeroplane reminds me of a relaxing trip to Cuba a
couple of years ago, every time I glimpse at it I immediately think of sun.
Discovering French wraps at the supermarket...complete with tiny picture of Provence!
L'Homme & I bought a new lamp and Pierre Le Chat gained a playhouse,
he does look rather menacing from his cardboard fort!
Breakfast in the garden (weather permitting) It almost feels like I
could be in France!
