The Wanderer Returns

I am back from my week in the lovely sunshine of Portugal and Monday came around all too quickly, I was desperate to crawl back into bed as the rain poured outside.

The combination of awful (summer) weather and my favourite magazines filled with wonderful autmn/winter catwalk inspiration has got me longing for jumpers, boots and winter coats already.

The London 2012 Olympic games are well under way and L'Homme has comandeered the T.V. to watch Team GB's achievements unfurl (well done already to Rebecca Adlington, Lizzie Armitstead and the mens Gymnastic team!). Wherever you are in the world I hope you have a lot of fun supporting your team and good luck to all the olympians.

Holiday snaps and stories coming soon!

Finally Off On Holiday To Sunny Portugal

I'm off on holiday this morning (yippee no rain for a week!) and there will be plenty of tasty food, wine and sunbathing for me!
Unfortunately that also means no posts for a week but I'll have plenty to show and tell on my return so pop back next week for new posts!

My Personal Vestiaire!

Before moving into our three-storey Victorian townhouse L'Homme and I rented an apartment in Liverpool city centre meaning I had to cram my clothes into a single, tiny wardrobe! Needless to say clothes were constantly piled on the bedroom floor and shoes were kept stacked up in the under-stairs cupboard (shock, horror!).

So when we moved and suddenly had two spare bedrooms to play around with I immediately had visions of a sex and the city style dream walk-in!

The spare bedroom was a tad uninspiring before we got to work on it with an old carpet covering the beautiful floorboards and old-fashioned wallpaper swamping the room.

The first job was stripping the room of wallpaper and carpet and discovering the original hearth tiles!
Now the room was ready for it's transformation into beautiful dressing room...
I was inspired by Carrie's dark wood floor and as we already had the great floorboards, the stunning floor only cost us the amount of a can of woodstain, I love the way the dark floor gives the room a slightly masculine, stylish feel.
We painted the chimney breast in Pearly Queen by Laurence Lewelyn Bowen for B&Q which I just adore, it is a really subtle purple-grey colour and very elegant.
The new shop-stopper light fitting came from B&Q and adds a bit of wow-factor with it's five drop pendants.
A scraf rack proved to be a stylish, easily moveable disguise for the ugly boiler.
All of the furniture in the dressing room is from Ikea including two chests of drawers back-to-back creating a central island.

My Dressing table face mirror was a TK Maxx bargain that looks antique.

The transformation is just what I wanted for this room and I am thrilled at how good it turned out, it could possibly be my favourite room in the house and I love taking my time getting dressed in here every morning.

Boucle Jackets To Take Off The Chill

The wonderful Coco Chanel created the very first Boucle Jacket and since then it's become a real classic and wardrobe staple to add a little chic style to chilly days.

I snapped up this cream, slightly cropped, fitted jacket from Primark and just love the chunky zipped pockets that give it a little rock edge.

There is loads of variety out there to suit all budgets so grab yourself a must-have classic that you'll be pulling out of your wardrobe year after year.
Boucle Jackets (from left to right) Zara Boucle Knit Cardigan (£39.99) Diane Von Furstenberg (£360) Zara (£49.99) Asos (£36) Topshop (£65) Asos (£30) Hobbs (£119) Mango (£59.99) Zara (£49.99

What To Wear With Your Boucle

You could toughen up your sweet pastel boucle with some statement leggings and practical, girl-about-town ballerinas...

Cross Knee Leggings (£20) Salmon Ballet Pumps (£16) Basic Neppy Tee (£14) - all Topshop

Or you could go all out girly with some adorable broderie anglaise and chic Audrey Hepburn style cropped trousers...

Macabee Leather Loafer Shoes (£38) Tailored Slim Cropped Trousers (£17.50) One Teaspoon Skull Broderie T-Shirt (£40) - All Asos

So ladies inject a little Chanel-style into your wardrobe and wear it with a smile a la Coco!

Tie The Knot Collection by Richard Nicholl for Topshop

Head to Topshop for a heady, romantic, delicate and simple range of seven lace & silk dresses in the most subtle pink and angelic ivory you can imagine.
This is Topshop's first bridal collection and if you've got a whimsical special day planned then these designer/high street pieces could be just what you've been looking for!

These tiered floor length numbers are my favourite in the collection with their elegant waistlines, both are £300.

There is a 1960's vibe with these two mini dresses (both £175) with scalloped hemlines and they would look stunningly simple with an undone up-do and sandals for a beach wedding.
 Mini-Hoop Cocktail Dresses (both £250)
How beautiful is this silk, white slip dress?! I'm thinking long wavy relaxed hair with a single crimson red rose tucked behind the ear...just for the drama (£75)
